Chase Bank: Efforts to help U.S. government employees affected by the shutdown. Special line: 1-888-356-0023.


Congressional Federal Credit Union: Relief Line of Credit and assistance programs available. Call 800-491-2328 or visit a branch.


FedChoice: Offering several options to assist existing and new members.

Interior Federal Credit Union: Special interest-free loan (up to $15,000, interest-free for 30 days). Call 800-914-8619.

 

Navy Federal Credit Union: Offering a special loan program. Call 1-888-842-6328.


PayPal: $25 million allocated for interest-free cash advances to furloughed Federal workers.
Existing customers: 1-877-689-1975 | New applicants apply online, then call after approval.


U.S. Bank: Waiving late fees on missed mortgage payments; deferring first payments for new mortgages.


U.S. Employees Credit Union: Offering shutdown loans until January 15th. Call 312-922-5310.


Truist Bank: Programs in place to help clients affected by the shutdown.


Synchrony Bank: Allowing affected customers to defer payments. Handles cards for Amazon, Lowe’s, Walmart, JCPenney, and more.


Union Plus: For union members. Call 800-472-2005 for:

$300 Furlough Grant (eligible cardholders)
Mortgage Assistance Loan & $300 Grant\
Grace periods for Union Plus Life, Accident, and Auto Insurance.

Wells Fargo: Offering multiple shutdown assistance options depending on your account type.


USAA: Offering deferments for all loans and credit card payments.


TD Bank: TD Bank activated the TD Cares program to help those whose federal benefits are impacted by the U.S Government shutdown.

Regions Bank: offers support including qualified deposit account fee refunds (such as overdraft fees), a one-time penalty-free CD withdrawal, loan payment assistance, payment deferrals for current credit card holders, and a special fixed-rate unsecured personal loan under $5,000 with a 60-day deferred first payment.


Furlough Grants


FEEA-NARFE: Offering $100 grants to active federal employee members not receiving pay during the shutdown. Apply at the FEEA website. (Currently Paused)



Thrift Savings Plan (TSP)


TSP Plan News and Announcements: Loan payments can be suspended during non-pay status with no documentation required.

Auto & Financial Services


Toyota Financial Services & Lexus Financial Services: Eligible customers may defer or extend payments for up to two months. Toyota: 800-874-8822 Lexus: 800-874-7050


Hyundai Capital: 30-day loan and lease payment extensions for furloughed employees. Call 1-800-523-4030.


Kia Motors Finance: 30-day deferred payments. Call 1-866-331-5632.


Ford Credit, GM Financial, & Mercedes-Benz Financial Services: Providing options such as payment deferrals and late fee waivers (contact directly for details).



Mobile Service Providers


AT&T: Adjusting late fees, providing extensions, and revising payment schedules.


Sprint: Offering short-term payment solutions. Call 1-888-211-4747.


T-Mobile: Short-term assistance and payment spreading options. Call 1-877-746-0909 or 611 from a T-Mobile device.


Verizon: Flexible payment options and “Promise to Pay” program. Call 1-866-266-1445.



Rental & Housing Assistance


National Rental Home Council: Deferred rent payments and no late fees for furloughed renters.


OPM Sample Letters: Templates available for contacting landlords, mortgage lenders, and utility companies to request help.


National Apartment Association
: NAA is providing resources for our affiliate partners and members to assist in managing through the shutdown.


Food Assistance


Feeding America: Nationwide network of 200 food banks and 60,000 partner pantries serving Federal employees affected by the shutdown.


Your School District: Notify the district of your furlough to qualify for free breakfast and lunch for your children.



Home, Auto & Life Insurance Relief


MetLife: 30-day grace period on auto and home policy payments. Call 1-800-GET-MET8.

Fidelity & Guaranty Life Insurance Company: Waiving insurance charges for 30 days for AFGE members.

Other Notable Assistance


Rent-A-Center (Benefits Plus Membership): Members may qualify for payment waivers (up to four months or $1,000) due to involuntary unemployment.



National Freebie Offers


U.S. Office of Personnel Management: Federal employees may be eligible for unemployment compensation through state unemployment insurance programs. Eligibility varies by state.
